Villa Riambelle, located in Riambel, Mauritius
As you leave the airport, you will find yourself driving through a beautiful landscape of verdant cane fields intersected by streams and rivers and dotted with small villages. The road follows a winding path inland then turns to hug the rugged coastline near the cliffs of Gris-Gris. It then passes through the historical village of Souillac, with its charming old church, cemetery and small fishing port. After the bridge over the Savanne river, the road suddenly emerges onto the dazzling turquoise lagoon protected by a coral reef. It laps at a coast caressed by the trade winds and in which only a few houses are nestled in the tropical vegetation. Right at the entrance of the small village of Riambel, next to the stone post on which its name is engraved, a private driveway leads to a gate which in turn opens onto the Villa Riambelle property.Tourist attractions in the vicinity of Villa Riambelle include:
- The dramatic cliffs at Gris-Gris- "La Nef" (The Nave), a museum exploring the work of Robert Edward Hart
- The Telfair gardens- Rochester Falls- La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes natural park
- Domaine St Aubin, in which you can discover part of the history of the country and the traditional process of rum manufacturing
- Horse-riding on the beach
- A variety of nautical activities and scuba diving as well as quad-biking in the surrounding mountains, both offered by the region’s hotels

Only a few minutes away from the villa, you can fish, swim and discover the lagoon’s rich fauna and flora with a mask and snorkel. The beach that faces you opening the large gate, lends itself perfectly! Indeed, (and we are lucky for that), in this precise place, even when the ocean is retiring at the tide time, the water is always sufficient for a good bath and to enjoy the snorkeling. Don’t hesitate to dive to discover the beautiful colorful fishes living there!
Several small restaurants (one of which has the reputation of serving the best Indian cuisine on the island) are only a few minutes away by car or on foot. The supermarket is a 10-minute drive away.

This wedding planner with whom we have worked in the past will be able to organize for you a hair dresser and a make-up artist who will come to the house and expertly prepare you for the great event, as well as a skilled caterer and a specialized baker who will fulfill any culinary wishes you might have. The Mauritian government allows its registrar to come and wed you directly on our beach or in Villa Riambelle’s lush garden; enabling you to have it all happening at the same place; hence avoiding stressful transfers to restaurants and churches. You will hence arrive at the wedding site fresh and rested, and ready for the big moment.
OUR STAFF
The staff at Villa Riambelle
The helpful and competent steward, Nauchad, is at your service every day of the week, including Sunday and public holidays. He takes care of the swimming pool, the garden and the property’s maintenance. He will be happy to run small errands for you, such as picking up fresh bread, newspapers and vegetables on his bicycle. Nauchad lives a few hundred meters away from the villa and can be easily reached in case of an emergency.The cook prepares one meal a day, lunch or dinner, in advance. Tenants are responsible for purchasing provisions. The cook is on-site from 9am to 2pm and is bilingual (English and French).
The housekeeper, Stéphanie, is as competent as she is cheerful. She works from 8:30am to 1:30pm from Monday to Saturday, except on public holidays. She holds an honorary degree from the local hotel school and is bilingual (English and French).
The discreetly helpful laundry lady, Daisy, helps Stephanie around the house and deals with laundry and ironing. She works the same hours as the housekeeper and speaks only French.
Our staff fees are included in the apartment's rental. Tipping is discretionary. If you would like to leave a tip, we recommend the equivalent of €5 per day.
Note that for the festive end of year period, there will be no service from December 24 at noon until December 25 inclusively and from December 31 at noon until January 2 inclusively. Kindly note that in Mauritius, 25th December, January 1st and 2nd are bank holidays.
